April 5th – April 11th

Welcome back to The Louisville Plug.
Happy Easter to everyone celebrating this morning! 🐣

This week we're kicking off Derby season in style. We've got the biggest concert to hit Louisville in years, a bourbon festival taking over Fourth Street Live, and a bakery that a reader swears by for good reason.

Most importantly: We've locked in an exclusive discount on one of the best ways to experience this city like a local.

Inside this issue:

  • 🥐 The Local Rec: Blue Dog Bakery & Cafe via Lucas L. A Louisville Plug reader!

  • ⚜️ What's Happening in Lou: Zach Bryan at L&N Stadium, Pig & Swig, and the Kentucky Flea Market Spring Fling.

  • 💸 Insider Perks: How to save 10% on Louisville Food Tours this week.

🥐 The Local Rec
A Louisville local’s food rec, every week.

This week’s rec comes from:
Lucas L. - A Louisville Plug reader

Anytime a reader reaches out and expresses love for local businesses we are always excited to share that love with everyone else.

Why they love it:
"Blue Dog is one of those spots that's been in Louisville forever and somehow still feels like a hidden gem. The breads and pastries are legit world class.”

“The vibe is unmatched. Whether you grab a seat inside or out on the sidewalk, it just feels like the right place to be on a slow morning.”

Their go-to order:
“I always get the Egg, Bacon and Avocado Sandwich on their freshly baked bread. It's a simple order but trust me. Grab a pain au chocolat on the way out and thank me later.”

Thanks for the rec Lucas! If you are reading and have a rec you would like to share with everyone please respond to this email with your rec and why you love it.

⚜️ What’s Happening in Lou?
We curate 3 events worth your time each week so you don’t have to.

🗓️ April 11th @ 7:00 PM (Gates open 5:30 PM)
📍 L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium
💸 Ticketed Event

The biggest concert to hit Louisville in years is happening this Saturday. Zach Bryan brings his record-breaking "With Heaven On Tour" to L&N Stadium with Kings of Leon and J.R. Carroll opening. If that lineup doesn't get you out of the house, nothing will. To put it in perspective: Bryan set the all time record for the largest single ticketed concert in US history at Michigan Stadium last fall, and Louisville is on the list. His new album With Heaven on Top dropped in January and it's been on repeat ever since.

🗓️ April 11th @ 2:00 PM (VIP early entry 1:00 PM)
📍 Fourth Street Live
💸 Ticketed Event

If you're not heading to the stadium Saturday, Fourth Street Live has you covered. Pig & Swig is a full Derby season afternoon with 100+ bourbon tastings including rare finds at the Allocation Station, BBQ style bites, live music, and DJs across multiple venues. GA gets you 8 tokens toward pours and food pairings, which is plenty to work with. Spring for VIP and you're in an hour early with 12 tokens, a sweatshirt, fanny pack, and a cigar voucher. It's the kind of event that turns into a whole day without you even noticing.

🗓️ April 10th - 12th | Fri & Sat 10 AM – 6 PM / Sun 11 AM – 5 PM
📍 Kentucky Exposition Center
💸 Free Admission

If your weekend doesn't involve a stadium or a bourbon glass, the Kentucky Flea Market Spring Fling is the move. Three full days of 500+ booths and zero barrier to entry. No ticket needed, just show up and start digging. Antiques, collectibles, vintage clothing, jewelry, arts, and crafts. This is the kind of treasure hunting where you never know what you're going to walk out with. A perfect low key Derby season outing for the whole family or a solo Sunday well spent.

Tip: Get 50% of your parking fee back in cash with any purchase at the market. Just show receipt when leaving.
