Okay, now let's get into this week. 👇

🍕 The Local Rec
A Louisville local’s food rec, every week.

This week’s rec comes from:
Bailey R. - A Louisville Plug reader

Anytime a reader reaches out and expresses love for local businesses we are always excited to share that love with everyone else.

Their Rec: The New Albanian Brewing Company

Why they love it:
"New Albanian is worth the drive over to New Albany. I love the cozy vibe inside and I think they have some of the best roundhouse pizza out there.”

“I really feel like they are slept on here in Louisville since most people just don’t know about them. This is a great date night spot or family dinner option.”

Their go-to order:
“Of course I always go for their Roundhouse pizza with all of my favorite toppings. If you like a more deep dish pizza they have that and they also have a traditional crust option. They even serve 5 or 6 of their own beers on tap with an extensive list online.”

Thanks for the rec Bailey! If you are reading and have a rec you would like to share with everyone please respond to this email with your rec and why you love it.

⚜️ What’s Happening in Lou?
We curate 4 events worth your time each week.

🗓️ Saturday, October 10th | Festival 11am – 9pm / Parade @ 7pm
📍 East Jefferson Street, NuLu
💸 Free (Urban Farm and Cider Festival ticketed separately)

USA Today named it one of the 10 best Halloween parades in the country, and it's right here in NuLu. HalLOUween returns for its 23rd year with a full day on East Jefferson Street: live music, 60+ =local artists and vendors, costume contests for kids, adults, and dogs, spooky movies, and plenty of food. The parade steps off at 7pm, so plan to grab a spot early.

New this year is an Urban Farm with a pumpkin patch, corn pit, petting zoo, and hayrides, plus a NuLu Cider Festival. Both of those require separate tickets, but the main festival and parade are free to enjoy.

🗓️ Friday, October 9th 6pm – 10pm / Saturday, October 10th 12pm – 10pm
📍 Garvin Place & Oak Street, Old Louisville
💸 Free

One of the largest free blues festivals in the country fills the streets of Old Louisville for its 31st year. Two continuous stages run nationally touring blues artists alongside regional Kentucky musicians across both days, with food and drink vendors and activities for the kids.

It draws crowds from all over the Midwest, and the Victorian homes lining Garvin Place make for one of the best backdrops in the city. Bring a chair, settle in, and let the music carry the evening.

🗓️ Saturday, October 10th @ 8pm
📍 Old Forester's Paristown Hall, Brent St
💸 Ticketed

Grammy winner Chance the Rapper brings his gospel inflected hip hop to Paristown Hall. The Chicago artist behind "Coloring Book," "No Problem," and "All We Got" built his career completely independently and became the first artist to win a Grammy for a streaming only album.

Catching an artist of his stature in a room this size doesn't happen often. It's the biggest ticketed show of the week, so don't wait if you want in.

🗓️ Friday, October 9th – Saturday, October 10th
📍 Belknap Neighborhood
💸 Free

If you want a neighborhood fall fest straight out of Gilmore Girls, this is the one. Two days of small town charm in one of Louisville's most walkable neighborhoods, with local vendors, food, live music, and activities for the kids.

It's free and much more relaxed than the big downtown festivals happening the same weekend. A good pick if you want the fall feeling without fighting a crowd.
